Who We Are
About The Owners
Maxine Carels has been a certified instructor since 2020, and now owns two rural Manitoba spin studios. She is bringing her love for spin, and experience in studio ownership and management to your community! Stephanie Comte started instructing spin in 2024 and fell in love with it. Since then, she’s also taken on the role of manager at Atelier’s sister studio- The Studio on Sask, which she says feeds her passion for the fitness industry. Stephanie and Maxine are certified in Authentic Instructor Training (AIT) Inc’s spin instructor training, and have completed The Empower’d Method’s barre fusion training. With these tools in their belts, they’re excited to bring spin and barre to the community of Niverville.

Stephanie Comte, Co-Owner
I am Stephanie ! I am currently home on maternity leave, instructing my heart out as a spin and barre instructor ! I live on a grain farm in Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB, with my husband and son, enjoying our country life to the maximum! My regular role is a Manager of Customer Service in the banking world. Outside of work, motherhood and spin/barre instructing, I enjoy volleyball, golfing and any water sports! I love to move my body in any way possible, which I am so grateful to be able to do. When I move my body I am able to show up as a better partner, mom, and the list goes on. I am so excited to get to know you Atelier Cycle+ Community!

Maxine Carels, Co-Owner
I’m Maxine! I currently own two rural spin studios, and I am excited to open Atelier Cycle+ with Stephanie! I have been certified as an AIT Inc spin instructor for 5 years, and an Empower’d Barre instructor for 4. I live on a dairy farm near Bruxelles, MB with my husband, two young daughters and my pup. I love the country life, my day job as a palliative care social worker and exercising/moving my body. Spin, Barre, running – these things bring so much to my life. It’s not been lost on me how much movement and exercise is a privilege, and how impactful these things have been for my physical and mental health. By committing these chunks of time to movement, I show up a better version of myself in all the roles I have in life!
FAQs
I’m a beginner- what class should I take?
Because we encourage everyone to ride at their own pace in every class format, based on their abilities, new riders can take any class. Before your first class begins, the instructor will walk you through every aspect of the spin bike. However, we always encourage new riders to take our Intro to Spin class for a more thorough, casual walk-through.
What do I need to bring to class?
We want to make it as easy as possible to come to class, so we’ve shortened the list of what you need! With your pass, we provide complimentary spin shoes and towel service, and have an in-studio water cooler. All you need to do is dress in comfortable workout clothing (see Dress Code) and bring your water bottle! If you forget yours, we have bottled water available for purchase.
Can I transfer my classes to a friend?
Class passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
How do I book classes?
Create an account or log in to book into class on this site or use our app.
Are there any age restrictions?
The minimum age to ride is 16 years old. Riders under the age of 16 must have a parent/guardian present with them in any class, as well as a completed minor rider waiver form before attending class.
What is the cancellation/waitlist policy?
Attendance for classes beginning before 11:00 am must be cancelled by 8:00 pm the night before, for your pass to be returned. E.g.: Attendance for a 6:00 am class on Tuesday must be cancelled by 8:00 pm Monday night. If you are on the waitlist, you may be added to it until this time.
Attendance for classes beginning at 11:00 am or after must be cancelled 4 hours prior to class start time for your pass to be returned. E.g.: Attendance for a 11:30 am class must be cancelled by 7:30 am on the same day.
Riders on the waitlist will not be bumped into class within the cancellation window. Atelier staff may contact you if a spot opens up in class after the cancellation window, but there is no obligation to say yes!
Waitlist notifications will be received by e-mail, and it’s a good idea to check your junk mail. TIP: If you see one of our emails there, please “move” it to your inbox, that way future emails will show up there too!
What about etiquette and dress code?
Doors open 20 minutes before class to give riders time to set up and check in with the instructor if needed. Classes start on time – no latecomers!
Please show up 5-10 minutes ahead of class start time. To be respectful of riders’ time, doors lock 1 minute before the scheduled start time.
If it’s your first class, please arrive 15-20 minutes before class start time so your instructor can safely and thoroughly set you up on the bike and answer any questions you may have.
Riders must wear studio-provided shoes or their own SPD-compatible shoes.
We ask that riders leave their phones in the lockers or on Do Not Disturb, and refrain from phone use during classes. It’s distracting for your fellow riders and instructors!
Avoid cross-talk – please save your conversations with other riders for before/after class.
Dress code
- Wear comfortable workout clothing: leggings/pants or shorts and tee or tank/sports bra. We recommend shorts that are longer than mid-thigh to prevent any skin injury from chafing. As a safety measure, if you’re wearing longer pants, please ensure they are tighter fitting around the shin/ankle to prevent clothing from getting caught in the flywheel!
- Please refrain from wearing colognes and perfumes to Atelier Cycle. There are riders at Atelier Cycle who have sensitivities to strong scents which can have some pretty harsh physical repercussions. Let’s be thoughtful of others, and refrain. If this is a repeated issue, we will contact those who are not abiding by the scent policy.
